My machine received an address in the 192.168.11.x range. In one of my many iterations of setting up for tFTP, I forgot to set a static IP address on my machine (in my defense, it was after 1 am) and discovered, much to my surprise, that DCHP is working from the router. I've looked through the forums and Googled and feel like I'm hitting the wall. I know my friend got this unit from Amazon's UK store and the box is clearly labelled for the EU market, so I downloaded firmware (Buffalo user-friendly 1.81 and 1.82 as well as DD-WRT 19154) from the Buffalo UK site and tried to flash those and received the same errors. I read that this could be caused by trying to flash incorrect firmware. This was the first time I got anything other than a timeout, so I was excited to get any kind of response, even a negative one. Power cycling the router took it back to its previous state of a solid red diag light, at least until I tried to flash again. The openwrt wiki indicated that this meant a flash did not take and I would have to tFTP the factory firmware on it, which is exactly what I was trying to do. The router now flashed the red diag light twice every couple of seconds, instead of a solid red diag light. I booted from an Ubuntu live flash drive and when I made the tFTP attempt, I got 'unsupport model' errors.

Using the native Windows 7 tFTP client, as well as the GUI tFTP client recommended in some posts (I think it was developed for/by Linksys), I got timeouts every time.

I followed the recommendations and used a hardware switch in-between, set the static ARP entry (tried both the 02:AA:BB:CC:DD:1A bootloader MAC address as well as the router's MAC address). I got it working fine, but told him I would try to salvage his first unit to see if he could give or sell it to someone.Īfter several attempts at using the tFTP method listed on the DD-WRT WIKI page, I have been unable to re-flash. He ordered a new Buffalo router, then called me to set it up. Somehow in the process he bricked it (or so it seems), and so now the power light comes on solidly and the red diag light comes on solidly, and the router cannot be accessed via the WebGUI, Telnet, or SSH.

There you will find build specific topics that discuss any issues with a particular build/release. As such, you should check the device specific forum (Broadcom, Atheros, MediaTek, etc.) first before flashing any build recommended in this database. This database may not have up-to-date information and may even recommend a build which might cause issues.

But please take care - everybody can edit the information there so we cannot prove that they are correct in every case. In the meantime there is the Supported Device List in the DD-WRT wiki that provides you most of these information.
